Bad Wolves guitarist AJ Rebollo has left the band, pointing to the planned release of its cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene” as the breaking point. Rebollo initially joined Bad Wolves as a touring guitarist in 2023 before becoming an official member.

A press release issued August 28 confirmed that the cover will arrive Monday, August 31. The song had reportedly been in development for some time, with Parton expected to contribute vocals before her death.

In a statement, Rebollo said he could no longer support decisions being made for the band by its label, also referencing broader concerns with the business behind the group. He described the decision to release the song despite the band's stated opposition as the "final nail in the coffin" that led to his departure.
